What is Therapy?
Therapy involves working one-on-one with a therapist to remove the obstacles that prevent you from moving forward in your life. At times it might be neccessary to explore the past in order to understand how it is impacting the here and now, but mostly we focus on making the changes you want to make in the present.
Whether you want to explore a specific problem you are facing or to grow and self-actualize, therapy can offer you a suitable place to discover your potential.
Having been for therapy myself, I am well aware of how anxiety-provoking the experience can be of finding a therapist, making an appointment, and then attending a session where you are put under the microsope by a complete stranger. Having said that, I believe that one of the most important parts of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. Unless you feel comfortable and understood, it is almost impossible to make significant changes in your life. Building a trusting and authentic relationship is one of the most important things to me, and once the trust has been established therapy turns into a space where you can discover your true self and overcome the barriers you face in life. My role is not to change you. My role is to provide you with the tools to remove the obstacles in your life that stop you from being the best person you can be.
